Hamburg, August 13, 2019 - At the press conference for the international BLOCKCHANCE Conference 2019, Economics Senator Michael Westhagemann presented the position of the Hamburg Senate on the future promotion of innovation in blockchain technology in the Hamburg economy. The positions will be discussed tomorrow, 14 August this year, in the Hamburg Parliament at the request of SPD and the Green Party.

The leading event BLOCKCHANCE Conference is expecting up to 750 conference attendees and 1,500 exhibition visitors in the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce next Friday and Saturday (August 16-17, 2019). 77 mainly international speakers will present and discuss economic perspectives and social effects of blockchain technology in 16 panels.

Michael Westhagemann said about the promotion of innovative blockchain technology:

"As the Senate, we would particularly like to promote the use of blockchain technology in important industries in Hamburg, such as energy, logistics and manufacturing. Current examples show that our economy and thus our city benefit the most from this."

1st Blockchain startup accelerator in Hamburg with 2 investment funds

A special highlight of the conference is the official launch of the privately initiated ​BlockRock Ventures​Startup Accelerator in Hamburg. In the future, the investor will manage a seed and an early stage fund (planned: € 5 million and € 30 million). The Accelerator, initiated by Christoph Lymbersky (Global Ventures) and Fabian Friedrich (BLOCKCHANCE), will carry out a 2.5-year promotional programme with initial support of €300,000 (pre-seed) and a subsequent investment of up to €1 million (seed/early stage).

1st Blockchain Startup-Contest in Hamburg with 50.000,- € prize money

Among the highlights for blockchain startups from Hamburg and Germany is the "BC19 Evan Luthra Startup Contest" presented on Saturday (17.08.2019). 10 nominated young companies will take part in the expert jury with investor Evan Luthra (Startup Studio), investor Christoph Lymbersky (BlockRock Ventures), Christopher Jaszczynski (MMCrypto) and Omri Erez (CoinIX). The prize money of the 1st Blockchain-Startup-Pitch-Contest in Hamburg amounts to 50.000,- €.

Exclusive gala dinner with charity auction for Michael Stich Foundation

On the evening of the first conference day (16.08.2019), the BLOCKCHANCE Conference will hold an exclusive charity auction for the benefit of the ​Michael Stich Foundation​as part of its gala dinner at the Tortue Hotel Hamburg. Well-known donors from Hamburg and Northern Germany, such as Annett Louisan, Udo Lindenberg, Michael Stich, Otto Waalkes and the music groups Halloween and Revolverheld have donated exclusive exhibits to the auction. Prominent guests are expected for the VIP dinner.

Blockchain for Hamburg: 55% discount for students

The international conference is part of the Blockchain-Summer - ​blockchainsummer.com​- a series of top-class events in Hamburg about Distributed Ledger Technologies. The participation in the two-day conference costs 280,- to 450,- € plus fees. Students receive a 55% discount on conference tickets upon presentation of a certificate.
