Trace Electricity Generation With Blockchain -ACCIONA , a Spanish Renewable Energy Operator

Spanish renewable energy company ACCIONA Energía goes to deploy blockchain to trace electricity generation, in keeping with an announcement published Dec. 17.

ACCIONA Energía is a world} global renewable energy operator, that reportedly produces emission-free energy for over half dozen million homes. the corporate is recognized mutually of the most important renewable energy developers, with over 9,000 MW owned and installed.

ACCIONA started the project once it reached an agreement with FlexiDAO, a Barcelona-based startup that gives package tools to electrical power firms for digital energy services. With this move, ACCIONA plans to permit its shoppers to test the origin of electricity distribution.

Per the announcement, ACCIONA and FlexiDAO are together functioning on the event of a commercial demonstrator that tracks the supply chain of renewable electricity generation from 5 wind and hydro facilities in Spain to four company customers in Portugal.

Now the corporate is trying to implement the technology in new areas, together with markets that don't have a consolidated renewable energy certification system. Belén Linares, Director of Innovation of ACCIONA Energía, expressed that “blockchain technology will facilitate this service [tracing the renewable origin of energy] significantly to shoppers in any a part of the globe.”

Energy firms and utilities globally are applying blockchain technology to their offer networks and operations. Earlier this month, the South Korean government declared it'll pay four billion won ($3.5 million) to line up a blockchain-enabled virtual power plant (VPP) within the town of Busan. A VPP could be a cloud-based distributed powerhouse that integrates the idle capacities of multiple energy resources so as to optimize power generation.

In November, 2 energy divisions of German tech giant Siemens joined a blockchain-driven energy platform to market the employment of decentralised technologies within the sector. Siemens officers reportedly believe that blockchain technology can facilitate increase ability within the space, linking customers with energy producers and network operators.
