The Food and Drug Administration of the Chinese Chongqing Yuzhong District is going to use blockchain technology to its operations, the official newspaper of the Chinese communist party, The People’s Daily, reports on January. 31.

Blockchain can supposedly be applied by the agency to strengthen the supervision of food and drug quality assurance with higher traceability of the product life cycle and anti-counterfeiting measures.

Deng Ke, the chief executive officer of PrimeNumber Chain Technology Chengdu Co., Ltd — the corporate that developed the blockchain which can be used by the system — said that the system won't solely help improve the government's regulative measures, however will also improve the potency of the supervision. The blockchain traceability system also will give centralized management of traceability info for enterprises and permit queries for information regarding products.

Also, at the beginning of this month, news broke that China’s self-regulatory bank organization, the China Banking Association, can launch a blockchain-based platform to enhance potency across the sector.

The project, formally dubbed the “China Trade Finance Inter-bank trading Blockchain Platform,” aims to use blockchain to focus on trade finance, transactions and alternative monetary services.
