Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC) Are Impractical For Daily Use, Bank of Japan's Deputy Governor Says
Masayoshi Amamiya, Bank of Japan’s (BOJ) deputy governor, thinks central bank-issued digital currencies (CBDC) will not help in improving the existing financial system. This is not the first time that Amamiya has expressed skepticism about a bank-issued cryptocurrency. The University of Tokyo economics graduate also said that the BOJ would not be issuing a CBDC as it cannot function effectively with the current fiat-based system.
