Brazil- By Exclusively Using Blockchain Technology, The First Birth Certificate To Be Recorded

The first birth certificates to be recorded by completely using blockchain technology were issued in Brazil.

As Top Market Group reports on Sept. 1, Álvaro DE Medeiros Mendonça is one amongst the first children within the country to own their birth certificate recorded solely with blockchain technology, while not the necessity of the register office.

Streamlining registration method

The parents were reportedly invited by the hospital to participate in a project developed by tech company Growth tech in partnership with IBM. The father, Waldyr Mendonça Junior, said that blockchain tech made the method of registering his newborn kid much quicker, taking but 5 minutes.

The registration was created through Growth Tech's notary Ledgers platform, that provides virtual functionary services. The firm’s founder Hugo Pierre says that the startup wanted a brand new solution to provide higher potency in recording birth certificates.

Carlos Rischioto, IBM's blockchain leader in Latin America, explained that the kid registration methodology has 3 stages. initial is that the “Live Birth Statement” created by the hospital. Then the parents produce a digital identity on the platform, once that the information is sent to the notary office, finalizing the certificate.

Rischioto stated that the new platform will eliminate bureaucratic obstacles within the birth registration method and can be a lot of economical and transparent.

Blockchain technology and medical data

Blockchain technology is progressively being applied to data management within the medical field. In April, a South Korean hospital entered into a partnership with blockchain medical data marketplace Longenesis and biotechnology company Insilico medicine to make a blockchain-based health data management solution.

Longenesis can reportedly give a secure platform for Gil medical center to transfer, store and manage patients’ private data, and permit patients to manage and access their information.
