American fast food chain Church’s Chicken has started accepting payments in cryptocurrency Dash (DASH) at its locations in Venezuela, in keeping with a political candidate Facebook announcement on Dec. 12.
According to Dash News, the cryptocurrency is accepted in all ten restaurant locations in Venezulea. Dash has conjointly completed its 1st group action at Church’s Chicken and uploaded a video of the event on its official YouTube channel. The restaurant claims to be the first international fast food chain to simply accept payments in crypto.
The announcement from Church’s chicken follows some confusion relating to the acceptance of Dash at major fast food vendors in Venezuela. On Dec. 7, PR and media director at DashNews Mark Mason announce a tweet stating that KFC Venezuela would begin accepting Dash payments the subsequent week.
Later KFC Venezuela denied the news, stating that process payments with Dash “is not a truth, nor has the publication of any news concerning it been approved.”
Shortly when, Dash merchandiser Venezuela announce a public apology on its Twitter account. It said that the statement was premature and mirrored optimism instead of the present stage of discussions with KFC Venezuela. However, each Dash and KFC confirmed that they're in negotiations concerning the likelihood of crypto payments.
In January 2018, KFC Canada introduced a PR stunt, during which it offered a “Bitcoin Bucket” of deep-fried chicken, that might solely be purchased with Bitcoin (BTC). KFC declared the promotion in a tweet stating:
“Sure, we don’t know specifically what Bitcoins are, or how they work, however that shouldn’t come back between you and some finger lickin’ good chicken.”
As Top Market Group LLC reported in August, chief executive officer of Dash core group Ryan Taylor said that Venezuela had become the second largest marketplace for Dash, with nearly 100 merchants accepting the cryptocurrency every week.
